About the Game
Who is Cancer Crusher for?
Cancer Crusher was made for kids ages 6 and up who are navigating cancer, and for the people who love them. It's just as powerful for siblings looking for a way to connect, or for families navigating a parent's or grandparent's diagnosis.
Anyone who needs a way to understand, talk about, and feel less alone in the cancer experience has a place in this game.
To play without support, kids will need to read and count. Adult or older sibling support is welcomed if a younger child would like to join the fun!
How many players? How long does a game take?
2 to 4 players, though Team Mode can accomodate up to 6. A typical game takes about 15 minutes, which makes it a great fit for clinic waits, infusion days, or one more round before bed.
What is Team Mode?
Team Mode is an alternative way to play where players work in teams or all together, share Power Cards, and cross the finish line together. It's ideal for younger players who benefit from extra support, sibling play, or group settings focused on collaboration.
Is it appropriate for a child currently in treatment?
Cancer Crusher was shaped with input from pediatric cancer patients and survivors, families, Child Life Specialists, and healthcare professionals, and it was designed so every child can experience progress and empowerment through play, no matter where they are in their journey.
Importantly, the game is about navigating cancer's challenges, not beating cancer. Winning does not equate to becoming cancer-free and there is no way to lose to cancer in the gameplay. The outcome of the game is never meant to reflect the outcome of a child's medical journey.
You know your child best. If you have any concerns prior to playing, we recommend starting in collaborative Team Mode.
Do you have to have cancer to enjoy it?
Not at all. It plays as a genuinely fun board game, and many families use it to help siblings, classmates, and loved ones understand what someone they care about is going through.
What's in the box?
Game Board, Instruction Booklet with a kid-friendly glossary, Power Cards, Battle Cards, Treatment Side Effect Cards, Reward Power Cards, and 1 die.

Why can I only order one game?
The demand for Cancer Crusher has been far more than we could have imagined. We're limiting orders to 1 game per customer during the initial launch so more families get a chance to play. Hospitals and organizations can order more through Bulk Orders.
Safety
Is Cancer Crusher safety tested?
Yes. Cancer Crusher is third-party safety tested for CPSIA compliance, the federal safety standard for children's products in the United States, at an accredited testing lab.
Are there small parts?
The game includes small parts like player tokens and a die, so it carries the standard small-parts choking hazard warning and is not intended for children under 3. The game itself is designed for ages 6 and up.
Can it be sanitized between uses in a hospital?
Yes. The coated game components are designed to wipe clean, which makes the game practical for playrooms, clinics, and shared hospital settings.
What is the game made of?
High-quality coated cardstock and board materials from our manufacturing partners, produced to meet US safety standards for children's products.
Future Games
What's next for Health Hero Games?
Cancer Crusher is our first game, but it won't be our last. We're exploring therapeutic board games for other childhood health conditions so more kids can understand, talk about, and feel less alone in what they're going through.
Can I suggest a condition for a future game?
We would love that. Email hello@healthherogames.com and tell us what your family is navigating. Hearing which conditions matter most to families directly shapes what we build next.
